Once…When the Cirque du Soleil came to Auckland, New Zealand, Philip, a process engineer and owner of “Paper Shaper” – a boutique paper-moulding business – noted with interest the rich variety of masks on display in the merchandising tent and wondered…"Why aren’t we making our own ?"

Philip had recently completed the redesign and redevelopment of "Mini-Me", a machine that used recycled paper in an innovative new process, which, under extreme heat and pressure, moulded paper into a smooth, dense, top quality product.

Having satisfied himself that he had a machine that fitted with his ideals of CONSERVATION, EFFICIENCY AND PRACTICALITY, he began his quest for new clients and new products to manufacture.

That very same week The Circus came to town, Annette, a mask enthusiast of Dunedin, in the deep south of New Zealand, contacted Philip after hearing on the grapevine that he had recently built a new custom machine capable of moulding paper product in short runs. WAS THERE ANY CHANCE HE COULD MANUFACTURE PRESSED PAPER MASKS HERE IN NEW ZEALAND?

After a short pause came the answer: "We Can Do It!" (proving that the "impossible" is indeed do-able!)

Philip, Annette and friends have since embarked on a collaborative journey, creating
MASKWORX, the innovative company responsible for "Multimask" – an updated version of ‘neutral mask’; a paper face base that is speedy, simple and safe (non-toxic) to use…

Combining Annette’s fifteen years of experience, travel and research into masks and mask-making with Philip’s enterprising hot-pressed paper technology…the concept of a 9-step Multimask System - a world first – was created, and thoroughly tested in schools throughout Australasia.
